The new cockpit cross-section for the wooden hull/deck according the class rules has been designed in detail and scale 1:1.

A 1:1 scale model of a half-frame had been constructed to test the old and new deck design. It can be seen that the old straight deck design makes modern hiking more or less impossible. The resulting forces and stresses on the calf with the lever relations getting worse when moving the body over board.

The adapted new deck design, making use of the permitted rounding of the deck cross section makes hiking possible in all positions.
